The Tragic End
Qu Yuan's exile lasted for many years, during which he witnessed the suffering and struggles of his people. Unable to bear the pain any longer, he decided to take his own life by jumping into the Miluo River. The news of his impending suicide quickly spread, and the villagers rushed to their boats in a desperate attempt to save him. They banged drums and splashed their oars in the water, hoping to drive away the fish and evil spirits that may harm Qu Yuan's body.
Despite their efforts, Qu Yuan's body was never found. But the villagers continued their search, commemorating his memory by racing their boats every year on the day he drowned, which we now celebrate as the Dragon Boat Festival.
